Loyalty & Rewards
Loyalty & Rewards lets your players earn real rewards, such as gift cards and discount codes, by completing programs inside your game. A program is a short quest made of steps: buy currency, complete a few matches, reach a level, move value to another game. When a player finishes the steps, they unlock the reward and redeem it in your game or on an INVO-hosted “My rewards” page. INVO funds the rewards in INVO campaigns; you design the experience.
The pages in this section
Integrating loyalty in your game
Read a player’s reward cards, offers and rewards, redeem a reward, open the hosted “My rewards” page, report game events from the client or your server, and read a player’s progress from your server. Curl, Node and Python.
Programs in the developer console
Join an INVO campaign, build your own program from steps, preview the card your players will see, read the program report, and see where each of your players is in the Participants view.
What a program is
- Steps. A program is a list of steps a player completes, either in order or in any order. Steps come from a library of actions: currency actions that INVO sees directly (buy currency, transfer to or from another game, send currency, spend coins on items, subscribe) and gameplay actions your game reports (play a number of sessions, come back after a break, reach a level or milestone, play several of your titles, or a custom event you define, such as a match completed).
- Every program you build includes a currency step. Each program you build has at least one qualifying step: a currency purchase, a transfer to another game, or a currency send. Receiving currency does not count. That is what ties engagement to revenue in your game.
- A reward. Gift cards, discount codes and similar rewards from brands INVO works with. In an INVO campaign, INVO funds the reward: you never pay for or top up the rewards your players earn. You see the reward’s name and how many remain, never what it costs.
- A window. When the program runs, and how long a player has to finish once they start.
- A card. Every program renders as a card: title, brand, the steps with their state (complete, open or locked), progress such as “3 / 5 matches”, and the rewards the player has unlocked. The card you preview in the console is the same card your players see.
Two ways to take part. Join an INVO campaign and run the programs INVO offers in your game, or build your own program in the developer console inside a campaign’s limits: pick the steps, the reward, the window and the text, preview the card and submit it. Both are covered on Programs in the developer console.
Why studios use it
Retention and engagement
Players come back to finish their steps. A program with a deadline and a visible “3 / 5” gives a player a reason to open your game today and again tomorrow.
Engagement that drives revenue
Every program you build includes a currency purchase, a transfer to another game, or a currency send, so your programs tie engagement to revenue in your game. The reward is funded by INVO in INVO campaigns; your share of the purchase is paid to you as usual.
Value that moves across the network
Players can move value between games in the INVO network. A transfer step brings players and their currency into your game from other titles.
More than one title? Keep value circulating
A studio that owns several games can build programs that send players from one title to another, so value keeps circulating across your own titles and you earn from the transfers.
What players get
- Real rewards. Gift cards and discount codes from real brands, not just in-game items.
- Visible progress. Each step shows its state and how far along the player is, such as “3 / 5 matches”.
- Progress where they play. In your own in-game UI, built from the card data, or on the INVO-hosted “My rewards” page that your game opens in a browser or web view.
- Simple redemption. A player taps Redeem and sees their code. Everywhere else, including the card, the code only ever appears masked.
How it fits together, in order
| Phase | What you do | Page |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Join a campaign | In the console, browse the INVO campaigns open to your games and enrol the games that should take part. | Console |
| 2. Build or adopt a program | Run the campaign’s programs, or compose your own: steps (at least one currency purchase, transfer to another game, or currency send), a reward, a window, the card text. Preview the card and submit it for review. | Console |
| 3. Report game events | Currency steps need nothing from you: INVO sees the purchase, transfer or send. For gameplay steps, report events from your game server (trusted for rewards) and, if you like, from the client. | Integration, events |
| 4. Show progress | Read the player’s cards with their player token and draw them in your UI, read them from your server by the player’s email, or open the hosted “My rewards” page. | Integration |
| 5. Redeem | The player redeems an unlocked reward and sees the code. | Integration, redeem |
| 6. Measure | Read the program report (started, completed, rewards issued, redeemed and remaining, where players stall) and look up individual players in Participants. | Console, report |
Who sees what
- A player sees the programs offered in the game they are playing: your own programs for that game, and the campaign programs that game is enrolled in.
- You see your own programs, their results, and your own players’ progress, identified by the email you know them by.
- Reward codes are never shown on a card or in any listing; only the redeem response carries the code.
